In this unit you will find what CLIL is and you will be led to distinguish hard from soft CLIL. This unit will also give you insight into the notions of immersion and bilingual education.
The term CLIL, introduced by David Marsh and Anne Maljers in 1994, is the acronym of Content and Language Integrated Learning, integrated learning of disciplinary contents in a vehicular foreign language, it does not mean teaching the English language, but it implies teaching a non-linguistic discipline (such as history or mathematics) in a foreign language belonging to the student's study plan.
